Getting Rid of Ants at Home

There are many ways to get rid of pesky ants at home. Here are some tactics and solutions to stop the ants from invading your home and space.

Getting Rid of Ants at Home
  • Borax Bait

Take 1 teaspoon of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of borax and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter. Mix them together well. Take some cardboard and separate it into small pieces, put a small amount on each piece. Place these in the spots around your home that the ants seem the most active. The ants will then get into it and bring it back to their colony, killing off the colony and the queen.

  • Cleaning

Keep floors and counter tops clean of crumbs, garbage, and food. Take your garbage out often and keep your dishes clean. Remove any waste that could be attracting the ants.

  • Repelling Ants

A few things can help repel the ants away by using different solutions that have smells that ants can not stand. Those include lemon water solution, vinegar solution, and dish-soap solution. Dish-soap is harmful to ants because it includes chemicals that break down the protective layers the ants have. Spraying these solutions on the places the ants are active can help keep them away. Cleaning your counters with peppermint can also help, seeing as ants dislike its smell as well.

  • Caulk

This seals your doors, windows, and any small spaces that ants can fit through. You can also line these spots with salt to keep them from invading your home.
